1. What is a Virtual Assistant?

ANSWER: 

A VA is an independent contractor that remotely provides administrative, technical and creative assistance to business owners via the internet. 

Basically, it's similar to an online freelancer except that freelancers are in the profession without a long-term commitment to any employer unlike VAs who, most of the time, work for a single employer for longer hours a day and longer contract period which may even take years.

2. What type of work does a VA do?

ANSWER: 

Before a VA’S work is more like the work of a personal assistant or executive secretary (i.e. take calls, make appointments, answer emails, compose and send sales letters, and other administrative work.) But nowadays, a VA does various types of work such as graphic design, creating powerpoint presentations, sales videos, internet marketing, and more.

3. How much does a VA earn?

ANSWER: 

An established VA earns somewhere between $2 to $10 per hour depending on the type of skills and the kind of services a VA provides.  A part-time VA can earn around $300 up per month while a full-time VA can earn $500 up monthly.

4. How does a VA receives his/her earnings?

ANSWER:   

A VA can receive his/her earnings via Paypal (an online payment processor) and/or  via electronic money transfer OR direct deposit to his/her local bank account.  This will depend on the agreed mode of payment between the VA and the employer.

5. Where can I find VA jobs?

ANSWER:  

VA jobs can be found in various freelancing websites such as odesk.com, elance.com, freelancer.com and other similar sites.
